Letting go and Living Full

Letting go and living full

The nerves that come with putting anything are enough to hold most of us back from taking the strides we desire to take in life. Yet alone launching something new + in a highly competitive market segment + during a global recession off the heels of a pandemic… has been a lot of work, to say the least. And if I’m being honest, the bulk of the work and strain was more mentally taxing than anything.

My past year in this business taught me that even with all the preparation, knowledge, expertise and plans well laid out, you truly cannot say you have run a business until you run a business. A lot of the challenges you’ll have to face and quickly find a solution to will tug on your commitment strings to your business. You will have to become fluid, become multi-faceted, learn quickly and move with intent at all times. From the smallest of things such as the planning of content to the planning of getting new collections in on time, it will almost feel as if the business itself is testing you. Testing to see if you still carry the same zeal and passion you envisioned at the beginning of it all. Isn’t that exactly what the past 2 years have felt like?

One great big test of our plans, ambitions, our routines. Or was it all just mother-natures unique way of reminding us to lift our heads from the boxes we’d convinced ourselves our lives fit in? A wake-up call to remember the power of living in uncertainty, and the grit that creates. This a plea to remind us to stop living towards…and live here.

A challenge we never thought we needed. A rude awakening to say to us – even with all preparation, knowledge, expertise and plans well laid out, you truly cannot say you have lived until you live.

Here is to one great year together, to many more. Happy New Year loves.
